PAINTED
A cinematic study
body + architecture
Short film
2012
PAINTED was the first in a series of screendance films about our tug-of-war with nature. In this hauntingly evocative short, the unravelling decay of a building mirrors the delicate fragility of the human body. Highlighting the passage of time, the effects of neglect, and the aesthetic of decay, the film explores the intersection of choreography and abandoned architecture.
Both the choreography and the original music score were created to descend in a decrescendo, echoing the building's retreat from the tangible world and Nature's gradual encroachment.
Recipient of the Best Dance Film award at the 2012 Fastnet Short Film Festival, PAINTED Nominated for Best of Festival and Best Original Music, PAINTED has travelled the world in twenty-one film festivals internationally.
