SUNKEN
A Subterranean Reverie
unearthing the ethereal
Stage work for TERRITORIO V youth company
A legion of bodies shifts in and out of the state of synchronicity and divergence. Oscillating between the state of individuality and being swallowed by the collective, the physical language is fueled by the tension between the mechanical and the organic, detachment and compassion.
Created for the 5th edition of the Território platform which has contributed to the start of careers for young dancers across Portugal, ‘SUNKEN’ challenges the young dancers to delve into their focus, imagination and precision while exploring the constant struggle of discovering liberation within confinement.
“SUNKEN, by Dorotea Saykaly, evokes the softness and violence of the sea”
