The watchers
stage work for
danish dance theatre
A site specific work On the precipice between ethereal and the material
Revolving around the thematic exploration of 'the edge' and what lies beyond the point of no return, THE WATCHERS draws inspiration from the enigmatic verses of the Book of Enoch, immersing itself in the collapse of heaven, the narratives of the fallen angels and their inevitable descent.
Gravitationally pulled towards the sensuality of the human realm, the dancers become vessels for an expedition, embodying a physical journey fueled by the interplay between the celestial and corporeal. Within this journey, the balance between liberation and restriction, effort and ease are challenged.
Designed and curated specifically for the open-air stage of the Copenhagen Summer Dance, THE WATCHERS stands as an ensemble piece, conceived to showcase the collective of the entire company.
"Dorotea Saykaly has created a captivating meta mythological and sci-fi inspired narrative on stage."
—Casper Koeller, Sceneblog
"An aesthetic pleasure to look at. One clearly senses the duality that is the intention in the movements."
- Louise Frevert, Kulturinformation
